First of all, did you even know there was a Mascot Hall of Fame? There sure is! It's located in Whiting, Indiana south of Lake Michigan.

The Mascot Hall of Fame is more than a tribute to our favorite plush and furry friends that keep us entertained between innings or at half-time. The Mascot Hall of Fame also acts as an interactive and educational museum for kids! Some noteworthy exhibits include the T-Shirt Shooter Stadium because who hasn't wanted to shoot off a t-shirt canon? Race your friends in Fit To Be Funny where you choose from 4 mascots, make good food choices, and see if you can come out victorious! Want to make your own mascot? There are multiple ways to do so! You can use the Mascot Lab and create one on a computer to send home with you, combine different legs, torsos, and heads in Dr. Frankfurstein's Mascots, or visit their version of Build-A-Bear Workshop; Build-A-Mascot!

The 2019 Mascot Hall of Fame Nominees were announced via their Facebook page yesterday and included in the nominees was none other than the iconic Slugger from the Portland Sea Dogs!

Slugger's design has been consistent over the years with varying outfits to go with theme nights and different stunts. Slugger is one of the most dynamic mascots out there (in my completely biased opinion) and has gone viral multiple times for his antics. The only way Slugger will get in is with votes!

Beginning October 6th you can vote once a day every day. The first round only lasts through October 12th so vote early and often as only the top 10 will move on to the final ballot that runs October 20th-26th.

The Mascot Hall of Fame put together wonderful bios of the nominees so you can get to know them a bit better. Not surprising to anyone who has ever spent an evening at Hadlock, Slugger's favorite food is a Sea Dog Biscuit, his favorite song is "YMCA", and his bio also notes his record of 0-1853 of races around the bases won.

In addition to the high honor of being inducted into the Mascot Hall of Fame, if Slugger wins he'll also receive a giant championship ring to display at Hadlock Field.

During first-round voting you can vote for up to seven of your favorite mascots, which is great because guess who else has been nominated?

Wally the Green Monster of the Boston Red Sox!

Good thing we don't have to choose between them because that would be impossible! Best of luck to Wally and Slugger! Set yourself a reminder to vote here beginning October 6th.
