ABC’s ‘Station 19′ Uses New Hampshire Incident as Episode Inspiration?
NH Gender Reveal Explosion
It's crazy to think it's been three years since this incident happened since it feels like it was just in the headlines, but during the lengthy height of over-the-top gender reveal parties, one such party caused an explosion that rocked multiple neighborhoods and communities.
Kingston Gender Reveal Party
Back in April 2021, a gender reveal party was held on secluded property belonging to Torromeo Industries in Kingston, New Hampshire. The area, in fact, was so secluded, that no one even knew the party was happening.
Until, in an attempt to reveal the gender of the expecting parents' baby, 80 pounds of an over-the-counter substance called Tannerite exploded with such power, that, according to WMUR, neighboring towns like Plaistow, New Hampshire, felt the effects of.
And it seems pretty possible that the popular ABC show Station 19 borrowed the headline for one of the show's storylines.
Station 19 Gender Reveal
On the 7th episode of Season 7 of Station 19 titled Give It All, which aired on ABC on Thursday, May 9, 2024, one of the storylines in the episode involves the firefighters of Station 19 being called out to an isolated area of the woods for reports of smoke.
After confusion about why they were called out there, the crew was pointed in the direction of -- you guessed it -- a gender reveal party being held in the woods that involved fireworks being lit off, causing a fire hazard.
Sound familiar?
While it's not an exact replica of the incident that happened in Kingston back in 2021, the similarities are definitely there.
A gender reveal party in an isolated area that results in an explosion/fire? Way too coincidental for art to not be imitating life.
