Old Port Festival

With the announcement this last week by Portland Downtown that this would be the final year of the Old Port Festival, it got me to thinking of all the years that Q97.9 had a stage with musical acts at the festival.

No more giant puppet parade after this summer!

On June 7, 2009, Dana Street in Portland was a sea of people waiting to see American Idol star Elliot Yamin and to a lesser extent, Meredith, Jeff and Lori as Cluster Fudge.

All of us here at Q97.9 are saddened to learn of the death of Tommy Page, a singer-songwriter who had a #1 Billboard Hit in 1990 and worked with big acts like New Kids on The Block.

The talent this year ranges from soulful soloists to guitar-heavy bands. Who do you want to see on the stage?

Here's a unique dog's eye view of this year's Old Port Festival from Bruce the Bulldog. We strapped a GoPro camera on his back and found that if you're a bulldog walking through the Old Port, everyone wants to pet you!

The Q has been bringing great musical acts to the Old Port Festival for almost 20 years, and once again we've come with a lineup on the Dunkin' Donuts One City Center Super Stage that you're gonna love!

It's fun to have a concert where you work. Unless you work at a bank. Sunday at the 41st annual Old Port Festival was great! Beautiful weather and spectacular bands!

Spose, a good local boy, isn't only an amazing rapper..actually he's 'Awesome'! But he's also a super nice guy!
