Sanford Police said witnesses told them the man was standing in the intersection of Main Street (Route 109) and Lebanon Street (Route 202) around 3:50 p.m., holding a knife and yelling at passing vehicles.
The ticket sold in Maine matched all five white balls and was worth a $1 million prize. The Power Play multiplier was also played, increasing the ticket's value to $2 million.
The troopers, including a trainee, were conducting interviews in the breakdown lane of Route 202 and Star Lane around 10 p.m., according to York County Sheriff William King.
