It's been nearly two years since Arcadia, the very popular arcade bar in Portland had to close its doors on Preble Street due to the pandemic. It's been a long time coming, but it won't be long now before it opens once again in a brand new location.

Arcadia owners Dave Aceto and Nikki Costas-Trujillo managed to keep Arcadia alive and even thrive with support from the people who love Arcadia for what it means to them and the city of Portland. The people that frequent it are like family and none of them wanted to see this gem of Portland go away.

They were able to secure a lease on the former Port City Music hall and have been busy remodeling it into the new Arcadia and it's getting very close to completion, but it has met some bumps in the road including a very expensive liquor license fee from the City of Portland. Luckily the city has knocked the fee down, but it's still pretty expensive.

Check out the sweet new sign that looks like it's right out of the 80s.

The old Port City Music Hall is being transformed with a mural around the walls of the stage that once featured bands and now has pinball machines on it.

One of the most popular video games at arcade bars is this massive 10-player team play game called Killer Queen. It's a game that is addictingly fun to play with friends and strangers. So much fun!

This is the view of Arcadia during a meet of the New England Pinball League on Sunday nights. Arcadia is only open to league members for Sunday night meets. When it's open to the public and you walk in, you'll see a bar with seating on four sides and outlets beneath to charge cell phones. There will be nearly 50 pinball machines and dozens of classic arcade games over two floors and the stage.

LOOK: 50 famous memes and what they mean

With the infinite number of memes scattered across the internet, it's hard to keep track. Just when you've grasped the meaning of one hilarious meme, it has already become old news and replaced by something equally as enigmatic. Online forums like Tumblr, Twitter, 4chan, and Reddit are responsible for a majority of meme infections, and with the constant posting and sharing, finding the source of an original meme is easier said than done. Stacker hunted through internet resources, pop culture publications, and databases like Know Your Meme to find 50 different memes and what they mean. While the almost self-replicating nature of these vague symbols can get exhausting, memes in their essence can also bring people closer together—as long as they have internet access.
