It's hard to believe that the Ice Castles have been gracing us with their presence here in New Hampshire for 10 years.

If you have never experienced this Winter Wonderland in North Woodstock, New Hampshire, it is truly a feast for the eyes. They have slides, caverns, tunnels, crawl spaces, and sculptures all made entirely from ice and snow. Did you know their team of ice artisans grow, harvest, and place each icicle by hand? That is some serious manual labor.

I have gone both during the day and at night, and both times are phenomenal, but the Ice Castles at night are truly something special. The ice is embedded with color-changing LED lights, and it almost looks otherworldly in the most spectacular way.

Photos don't really do it justice, but here's what we're working with:

This winter attraction has won many awards, and for good reason. It's awesome!

One thing that I have always thought was missing from the experience (and perhaps this is the booze bag in me talking) is adult beverages. Well, guess what, fellow cocktail enthusiasts? It's happening! This year, Ice Castles New Hampshire will be debuting ice bars. They shared the news on their Facebook earlier today, saying:

" Come grab a drink and warm up at the chillest place in town"

How awesome does that look? I'm so excited!

Because Mother Nature can be a fickle mistress, Ice Castles is not able to give us a firm opening date until the cold weather is here to stay. Typically it happens in early to mid-January, but keep your eye on their Instagram and Facebook for the most recent updates.
