A part of self-care is getting an ice cream cone alone on a Sunday with your dog before you start the work week, like I did yesterday. At first, I was just taking a quick trip to your standard local Dairy Queen until I got distracted by this cute ice cream shop I've never seen before. It was just sitting in this old parking lot that used to have an abandoned gas station in it. I was truly intrigued by this spot, because even if you've heard of it, I never have (yay!). I mean, they quite literally made a cute little ice cream oasis in a vacant parking lot. We love things like this. So I pulled over.

There was actually tons of people sitting under the umbrellas and picnic tables outside, so I had to see what it was all about. The place is called Twin Swirls, and it reminded me of your favorite old diner that seemingly will never close (but if it did, you'd be really sad). Here are the hard ice cream flavors:

A side note, I judge ice cream shops by whether or not they have the mint chocolate chip (the green kind). My rule is, green kind only. THEY CARRIED IT! Automatic stamp of approval. Another side note, black raspberry is also important, and they carried that flavor as well. These guys are winning all around. Not to mention, they give you a ton of ice cream for your buck. I think it was under $5 for a cone bigger than my head (well, before my dog stole it from me).

I'm really just here to encourage you to get some ice cream before summer ends! I also stalked Twin Swirls on Facebook to find out how new they actually were to town, and found some cool photos of their beginnings:
