It's not moving far, but the VIP Tires & Service Center in North Windham is moving next door to the site of the former Tim Hortons.

The Canadian based coffee and donut shop made a big push into New England back in the 2000s opening several stores in Maine. The big mistake they made is not realizing Maine is Dunkin' territory and the move failed miserably, causing them to close most of the Tim Hortons in Maine in 2010 with just the ones up in the county near Canada still in business.

Back in the southern part of Maine, a lot of those old Tim Hortons stores have stood vacant for nearly 10 years with the North Windham store being one of them. That's about to change though as VIP Tires & Service undergoes an expansion.

According to a Facebook post by VIP Tires & Service Regional Director Robert Kaffel, VIP will move next door to the former site of Tim Hortons. The building will be replaced with a new state of the art 10 bay service center which will more than double VIP's current size.

O'Reilly Auto Parts, which bought the parts side of the VIP business in 2012, will stay in the current building shared with VIP and will get refurbished with more space.

Construction gets underway in a few weeks with plans to have the new building completed and open for business late this summer.
