Be prepared!

We've been warned, but can a warning really prepare you for what is about to happen? Not until the plan is put into reality. What exactly is the Veranda Plan? Besides sounding like a fantastically bingeable Netflix limited series, it's the plan to replace the Veranda Street Bridge...and a TON of thoughtful planning has been done to make this as smooth as possible.

But as much planning and spreading the word you do, when reality sets in...well, sometimes it can be a hard pill to swallow. First the Maine Department of Transportation is doing some pretty fancy stuff here. They are moving an already constructed bridge into place. Normally this process can take months if not years - and they are doing the actual replacement in just 4 days.

THROUGH MONDAY, APRIL 25TH AT 11 AM - I295 IS CLOSED WHERE THE VERANDA STREET BRIDGE IS

That leaves you heading north or south with a couple of options. If you are local traffic to Falmouth, you will want to rely on Presumscot Street. But expect delays heading into Portland!

If you are on Route One in Falmouth and heading to the Turnpike or 295 North, expect this traffic on Route One!

Here's a cool little video to show you what to do.

But truly, they weren't kidding when they said if you can stay home and just avoid it all - PLEASE DO! Or be patient. I can hear horns honking in my living room. Guess what, honking your horn does not make anything go faster - it's just annoying. Good luck, breathe and enjoy the spiffy new bridge when it's completed Monday morning!

LOOK: See how much gasoline cost the year you started driving

To find out more about how has the price of gas changed throughout the years, Stacker ran the numbers on the cost of a gallon of gasoline for each of the last 84 years.
