Westbrook Police have located a man that had been missing since Tuesday thanks to the public's help through the issuing of a Silver Alert.

87-year-old Herman Bosse was last seen at his doctor's office at Martin's Point in Falmouth. Family was expecting him to return home but he never showed up.

Because he has health issues, the Westbrook Police Department issued the Silver Alert. Silver Alerts are public notifications typically issued for missing persons over the age of 65 with Alzheimer's disease, dementia, or a mental disability. Law enforcement agencies may issue a Sliver Alert for any elderly person that they may have concerns for their well being.

The system worked and worked quickly. A mere few hours after it was issued, Herman was found when a convenience store clerk received his photo on a Maine State Lottery machine. It just so happened Herman was in the store at the time and he's now safe and sound, reunited with family.
