Well, well, well...my love of their chicken marsala lives to see another day!

When I contacted the owner Hope Lawler about a month ago, she said she was looking for a miracle. We spread the word, spoke to her on the radio, and then sat back and wished for that miracle. WMTW also did a story on her having to close her restaurant because she simply couldn't find the help she needed to open. But with the intent to save them, somehow she found the help she needed!

REOPENING IS TUESDAY, MAY 3

I credit Casa Novello in Westbrook for making chicken marsala one of my favorite things in life. I had never had it before and I remember about 15 years ago, in a packed restaurant asking the waitress about it. Her description of pan-fried chicken cutlets with mushrooms in a rich marsala wine sauce sold me. Then I had it and well, it's the only thing I ever ordered. So I couldn't tell you what anything else at Casa Novello was like because I was stuck on the marsala.

I was so sad to see the Facebook post that because of staffing issues, ongoing staffing issues, they were closing.

Hope had tried everything...and after a year of struggling, they had to close. She had written on Facebook:

We appreciate all of your comments we have been trying to find staff for over 8 months. I have called schools, and friends, and told customers tried everything. We are hoping for a miracle.

But she is happy to report that she has hired a new crew and they are eager to get back at it! Apparently, God has tried the chicken marsala and had an extra miracle. Welcome back, Casa Novello! May you be open for years to come.
