I can understand why placing Lori Voornas in the same company as legends like Tina Fey and Betty White might seem like a stretch, but we found out Wednesday that Lori indeed does have something in common with them.

The Alliance for Women in Media Foundation has presented The Gracie Awards since 1975 to honor the achievements of women in television, radio, and digital media on a national and local level. The awards are named after Gracie Allen, part of the comedy team of Burns and Allen who were a success for over 40 years, starting on the radio in the 1930s and eventually moving to TV.

We found out today that Lori is a 2021 recipient of a prestigious Gracie Award for local morning show radio host. She joins the ranks of other outstanding women like Tina Fey and Betty White who have won in the past, along with other 2021 Gracie recipients like Hoda Kotb & Jenna Bush Hager of Today and Catherine O’Hara of Schitt’s Creek.

We had the news broken to us by Erik Hellum, the COO of our parent company, Townsquare Media, which you can listen to here.

LISTEN:

I've worked with Lori for almost 20 years and there's no one more deserving than she is of this award. No one works harder to put on a great show and does more for our community and our listeners than Lori does. She's always there to lend a hand to help or an ear to listen. Add that to her incredible on-air talent and it doesn't surprise me one bit that she was selected to receive a Gracie.

LOOK: Here are the 50 best beach towns in America

Every beach town has its share of pluses and minuses, which got us thinking about what makes a beach town the best one to live in. To find out, Stacker consulted data from WalletHub, released June 17, 2020, that compares U.S. beach towns. Ratings are based on six categories: affordability, weather, safety, economy, education and health, and quality of life. The cities ranged in population from 10,000 to 150,000, but they had to have at least one local beach listed on TripAdvisor. Read the full methodology here. From those rankings, we selected the top 50. Readers who live in California and Florida will be unsurprised to learn that many of towns featured here are in one of those two states.

Keep reading to see if your favorite beach town made the cut.
