Where’s Maine’s Billionaire? No One Has Claimed $1.35 Billion Mega Millions Jackpot
It's been over a week since someone won the $1.35 billion Mega Millions jackpot. The ticket was bought at Hometown Gas & Grill in Lebanon, Maine. Maine! One of the biggest jackpots in Mega Millions history was sold right here in Maine and so far no one has come forward to claim the moola!
According to WGME13, Northeast Media, which handles media requests for the Maine State Lottery, says the winner is unknown! Whoooooo is it? In case you just haven't gotten around to looking at your numbers, they are:
30, 43, 45, 46, 61 and the Mega Ball was 14.
What's so great about this is that Hometown Gas & Grill in Lebanon, where the winning ticket was sold, gets a bonus. The owner Fed Cotreau got $50,000 for selling that one little ticket. He said that he got call early in the morning on January 14 from the Maine Lottery and he thought it was a scam. It's a big deal and he's very anxious to know who won. He's hoping it's someone right in Lebanon. That would be sweet to keep it super local. Hopefully, it wasn't a New Yorker passing through.
The prize was around $1.35 billion or $724.6 million cash, which was the second-largest jackpot in the history of Mega Millions and the first one in Maine! It's only been a week, and the winner has a year to come forward and they can keep their identity a secret. But for those of us who didn't win that cash, we just want to live vicariously through you. Come out, come out whoever you are! I hope the money serves you and those you love well.
