Have you taken that quiz that will show your most used word on Facebook? If so you're not alone, but you may regret that you did.

If you've taken this quiz, you have given away a lot of private details about yourself that can be used against you.

I'm always cautious with anything or anyone that I have to give permission to access my Facebook account to. To find out what your most used words on Facebook are, you have to grant the company that created the quiz access to a lot of your personal information. It's basically like giving the keys to your house to a complete stranger.

Comparitech.com has put together a list of all the things you've handed over to vonvon.me, the creates of the 'most used words' quiz:

  • Name, profile picture, age, sex, birthday, and other public info
  • Entire friend list
  • Everything you’ve ever posted on your timeline
  • All of your photos and photos you’re tagged in
  • Education history
  • Hometown and current city
  • Everything you’ve ever liked
  • IP address
  • Info about the device you’re using including browser and language

What will this company do with that info? Anything they want to because you granted them permission to.

Like most services online, this quiz comes with a privacy policy that you have to agree to to use the service. When you agree, which most people do without reading the privacy policy, you are granting permission for vonvon.me to sell your information to anyone they want to and store your information on any network server in the world.

Comparitech.com also makes the point that you might not be concerned about any privacy issues, but by agreeing, some information on each of your Facebook friends is also in the hands of the vonvon.me.

We live in a world of sharing. If you're cool with that and are not worried about everything on your Facebook page sitting on a server waiting to be sold to someone for profit, then you're good. If you want to err on the side of caution though, don't give Facebook apps too much info. You never know where your data could end up.
