Here's a really cool bit of Maine history... and you can see it all in one video.

If you were planning on seeing gold, that's the other Fort Knox! This one's a little closer to home.

Maine's historic Fort Knox began construction in the 1840's, and wasn't finished until the 1890's. It never saw action, and it was built almost entirely with Maine granite, which was quite the feat at the time. It was added to the national register of historic places in the 1970's, and remains one of the only surviving examples of a granite coastal fortification that's still intact.
