If you haven't been keeping your eye on the weather for later this week, you're in for a surprise. After a July that was one the most disappointing in years with what seemed like never-ending rain, the weather pendulum is now about to swing the other direction.

Temperatures on Wednesday will reach 80 but Thursday and Friday high will make it to 90. Couple that with high humidity is going to make it feel even hotter than that.

News Center Maine's Keith Carson also says the nights over the next three days will be kind of brutal wth temps in the upper 60s to low 70s and of course that dreaded humidity.

With all that hot weather on the way, the City of Portland is offering the public a place to cool off at the William B. Troubh Ice Arena on Park Avenue, right near the Portland Expo and Hadlock Field. The ice arena is like a giant air conditioner and sitting on the bleachers will give you a nice break from the heat outside.

The ice arena will be open on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and it's absolutely free to enter. Masks however are required, as they are at all City of Portland owned buildings.

How's the old saying go? If you don't like the weather in Maine, wait a minute. That sort of applies here. If it isn't too much rain, it's too much heat.
