You Have to Hear This Pop-Punk Cover of the Funtown Splashtown Jingle
If you've lived in Maine for any period of time, you're very familiar with the Funtown Splashtown jingle that you hear in their radio and TV commercials. There's a new cover of the familiar song made by a local musician that gives it a new pop-punk sound.
What's pop-punk? Just like the name implies, it's a mixture of punk rock and pop music genres and it dates back to the late 1970s though it has evolved quite a bit over the years.
Local musician Xander Nelson, who works for our sister station WCYY performed a cover of the iconic Funtown Splashtown jingle and it's pretty amazing.
First, take a listen to the original Funtown Splashtown jingle that is used today.
Now take a listen to the pop-punk version with Xander Nelson on vocals, guitar, and bass, and Jason Stewart on drums.
How awesome is that? Xander also did the mixing, mastering, and production of the track.
If you ask me, and you didn't, I think that Xander's version is good enough to become the jingle of choice for Funtown Splashtown moving forward. Are you reading this Funtown Splashtown?
Part of the reason Xander made this cover is that he will be performing at Futnown for their next " All Grown Up" event for adults only. If you want to go, get your tickets now because the previous two "All Grown Up" nights have sold out. Rides, live music, adult beverages and food while you leave the kids home? That's a win-win.
Tickets are $30 each and you can get them at Funtown Splashtown's website while they last.
