Movie Mom hardly had time for her real job as she reviewed six new releases! There's something for you over the holiday weekend...

Movie Mom wanted to get the garbage out of the way and started with 'Assasin's Creed'. Apparently a movie, once again, based on a video game. And once again a stinker.

Then it was 'Sing' an animated movie that she really wanted to like. She loved the singing part (it's a movie about a singing competition among animals) but it was some of the plot that she had issue with. Including a glass eye that kept falling out, a building fire and a dad in a gang trying to recruit his son. Movie Mom said skip it - better stuff out there for the kids (think Trolls).

Last on the list of bad movies out is 'Why Him?' As Movie Mom said...'Why me!?' It's from the same people that brought you 'Meet the Parents', and it's basically the same movie only you are meeting the son-in-law. It's crass and not in a funny way. A waste of an amazing cast (Bryan Cranston, Megan Mullally and James Franco). Skip it.

Then the pretty good movie is 'Passengers'. Movie Mom says it's gorgeous and not just because of Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt. The concept is a tad weird. They are passengers on a 100 year space flight. They are suppose to sleep the whole 100 years, but Chris Pratt's character wakes up after 10 years and he's all alone, so he wakes up Jennifer Lawrence (why wake up someone not as pretty?). The movie is about what happens next..Movie Mom says okay - but not great.

A VERY good movie is 'Fences' with Denzel Washington and Viola Davis. Based on the Pulitzer winning play it's about a black family in the 1950's Pittsburgh. It will rip your heart out...in a good way.

And THE movie not to miss this weekend - take the family to see 'Hidden Figures'. A true story...

Based on the true story of a group of black women mathematicians who worked at NASA during the space race and a VERY discriminatory time. It's inspirational and brilliantly acted. The music by Pharrell is also amazing. This is the movie you want to see this weekend.
