That's a pretty big claim. Does it hold?

The Food Network says they went coast to coast in search of the best "golden, juicy fried chicken." They didn't care if it was from a no-frills shacks to award-winning restaurants; they just wanted to find some delicious fried chicken.

Here's what the Food Network had to say about Hot Suppa's fried chicken:

In Portland, Hot Suppa is known for serving the best-fried chicken in the state. The chicken is locally sourced, brined in sweet tea (a nod to the South), and served with a buttermilk waffle and syrup from Maine to sweeten the deal. Load up on sides like mac and cheese or sweet potato salad and enjoy a great meal.

Sounds like a challenge to me, and one I am up for. Fried chicken is my prison's last meal request.

You don't play the 'prison last meal' game? Okay, it's easy. You're in prison about to be served your last meal. What are you having? I've known my last meal request forever:

  • Fried chicken
  • Mashed potatoes
  • Gravy
  • Corn on the cob with butter and salt (might as well)
  • Very, very moist chocolate cake
  • Diet Coke

I adore fried chicken, and now that I know that the best place in all of Maine is right in Portland, I'm putting that on my fried chicken bucket list! It will be hard to beat Figgy's in Portland. I will always have a soft spot in my heart for that amazing fried chicken.
