I’m Sorry It’s So Cold in Maine – Pics From Punta Cana!

This is the color of the sky in Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. I have not seen Big Papi...but I'm sure he's here.

Soooo, I've never been to the Dominican Republic. But as luck would have it, here we are at a spiffy 'all inclusive' resort called the Melia.

Getting here was tricky. Spent the night at a Logan Airport hotel because of a 6 am flight Friday morning. Ahhhhh, nothing like getting up at 230 to catch a 330 shuttle. By the time we got to Punta Cana it could have been a Walmart for all I cared.

But alas, it is fabulous.

My favorite. Eating the snacks from the room, exhausted on our first night. Check out the price of this INDIVIDUAL size bag of Lay's Potato Chips! It came with the room...thank God.

That's 25 dollars...not cents. I know!

Then Saturday it was a day of pools and beaches after Elbin from the resort gave us a tour in a golf cart to show us around. He was quite proud of their one flamingo. Yes, there is one flamingo. Gotta get a selfie with their famous flamingo!

We started at the pool....with a swim up bar. This is where I had quite the encounter...a bird and a Mainer!

Yes. Peacocks roam around the pool. They are after popcorn. Or anything really. They are very big, very pretty seagulls. Then I heard this:

Are you from Maine? Are you Lori?

Whaaaaa?! I was excited and said yes! Her name was Sara and her husband was horrified that she was going to come over to me. I loved it. She's a listener from South Portland and was staying at the same resort! Really what are the odds?

Now drinks are free (all inclusive remember) so it is easy to get uh...very relaxed. I was very relaxed when I met Sara. She probably thinks I'm a nut. Thanks for saying hi Sara! It was nice meeting you!

After we hung at the pool, we went to the beach...it's one of the top rated beaches in the world...Bavaro Beach. I can see why!

I know where the word ridonkulous comes from. This beach!

I'm eating and drinking like a Viking! I should be back 10 pounds heavier with more brain cells gone...

and tan.
