Johnny Depp is Fantastic in ‘Black Mass’

It's been a while since Johnny Depp has had a role that people are talking about. Movie Mom loved his performance as Whitey Bulger in 'Black Mass'.

The movies out this week are pretty violent, and 'Black Mass' leads the pack with a 'mesmerizing' performance by Johnny Depp. Whitey Bulger was on the FBI's most wanted list...just below Osama Bin Laden! The movie is ultra violent and very good.

No spoiler alert needed for the true story of 'Everest' based on the book 'Into Thin Air' by Jon Krakauer a survivor of a horrible mission to climb Mount Everest. Movie Mom had a VERY hard time empathizing with the characters, because they all paid 65,000 dollars to do 'something very stupid.' The scenes are spectacular and you will feel like you are on Mount Everest...saving you 65,000 dollars!

Another true story 'Captive' based on the story of a man who escapes prison, kills four people and then takes a woman hostage. David Oyelowo (who last played Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.) plays the bad guy. The movie focuses on the woman taken hostage Ashley Smith and is based on her book, 'An Unlikely Angel'

Lastly, the second Maze Runner movie, 'Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials'. Movie Mom loved the first movie, and thinks this one is just a jumbled mess with EVERYTHING in it except Kevin Bacon. Did not like it at all.
