Awww, I never thought I'd see the day that Express has to close its doors, but I guess it makes sense these days. First the Maine Mall took Forever 21 from us, then they stole Abercrombie & Fitch and Olympia Sports. Click here for all the closures we've had in the Maine Mall out in South Portland.

According to abcnews.com,

In a strategic move to restructure its operations, fashion retailer Express has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, announcing the closure of several stores across Massachusetts. The company, which has faced challenges exacerbated by the ongoing pandemic, aims to streamline its business model and focus on its core operations.

Typically, when trends hit Massachusetts, Maine is next in line. There's no real evidence yet that the one Express store we have in the Maine Mall is up for closure, but our guess is that it most likely will follow suit.

Who doesn't remember getting dropped off at the mall in high school, and you'd always feel so fancy walking into Express knowing you couldn't afford any of it? Then years go by, and now it's the go-to store for job interview fits (or was, lol). Sorry, I had to.
