Movie Mom Says the August Doldrums Continues for Movies…

Movie Mom says that the movies are pretty bad this weekend including the new animated Leap...

'Leap' is a cute concept of a couple of orphans who escape to pursue their dreams of becoming an inventor and ballet dancer. But the lead (the girl who wants to be a ballerina) lies, cheats and steals to get her dream.

As a mom, Movie Mom was not impressed...

Leap is from the Weinstein Company, an Oscar winning production house. So they laid two eggs this week. Their other release is, 'Tulip Fever', about an artist who falls for a young married woman while he's commissioned to paint her portrait during the Tulip mania of 17th century Amsterdam.

Not screened for critics. Always a sign of a stinker.

There is The Trip to Spain in limited release...that one she loved. It's a movie with two guys who travel to amazing places and eat even more amazing food.

And that's it.

Out on DVD is Guardians of the Galaxy 2 with tons of cool bloopers and behind the scene stuff. And if she was disappointed in this week...she says next week is even worse. That's why you'll be outside at your cousins BBQ.
