It's been a long time coming, in a way. Smoked, the wing, burger, and BBQ restaurant that was formerly Binga's, has opened its Portland location on Forest Avenue, and did so with the perfect fanfare on their message board.

Other messages as opening day approached said "Opening soon...for real this time." That message refers to the sign that said "Binga's Coming Soon" for two years.

In December of 2023, the former Bingas in Windham announced that they were now called "Smoked." Things were mostly the same, including the staff. The name change came with the departure of one of the two owners, who now just owns Binga's in Yarmouth.

The announcement of the Smoked location in Portland was made on the Smoked Facebook page in March.

There are two great things about the sign on the building: there are chickens, and the sign reads, "Wings, burgers, BBQ, Ice Cold Beer, Cocktails and Questionable Staff."

Their humor is just as expected.

It makes me wonder though. Will the two locations coordinate their messages, or will we now have two Smoked locations to check out and see what's on the sign this time? I'm cool either way, since my commute is on Forest Avenue, so I'll never miss a sign.

Smoked Portland is now open at 951 Forest Avenue seven days a week, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Get a look at their menu, beer selection, and cocktails by going to smokedportland.com.
