After 28 years in Portland, the only Jewish deli in town is closing. The Full Belly Deli says they just can't keep it open thanks to high food prices, higher rent, competition and a so-so economy.

David Rosen, the owner says he just can't keep it open. I know the Rosen family. My best friend is a Rosen. The Full Belly Deli is a Portland icon. A place - no wait - the ONLY place to get a piled high pastrami sandwich, chicken soup that will cure anything and potato salad that will change your life.

I know that not only the Jewish community (I've always wanted to be a part of it) but the WHOLE community will miss them so much. I adored the place and when I wanted a treat - I went to The Full Belly Deli. I would even pack their rye bread in my suitcase when I went to Idaho!

I am sorry you had to close, but wanted to thank you for 28 years of some of the best food I have ever had!
