There are tons of creative marketing tactics out there; it's not uncommon for companies to give out stickers, pens, coasters, and the like with their name stamped on it to spread the word.

But have you ever heard of a company using a yardstick as a marketing tool?

Apparently, it used to be quite the common occurrence, according to an r/Maine Redditor who found this collection of locally branded yardsticks in the old house he just purchased.

Among the collection are Portland-based businesses Sulkowitch Hardware & Paint, The Seaside Shop, and Randall & McAllister Automatic Heating Equipment.

Found some old business cards in a house I moved into that really measure up from r/Maine

When did yardstick marketing go the way of the Dodo and why?! I could really use one in my apartment...
