You really need to stop a moment and think before you share this on Facebook because you're going to look like a complete tool if you don't.

I saw this on my Facebook feed at least six times over the past few days.

People were so quick to share this snowfall total map for New England showing Maine getting clobbered with 16+ inches of snow in a blizzard, that they never bothered to click the link associated with the map.

If they had they would have gone here and if they were REALLY paying attention they would have noticed the date on the article.

Oh snap! Does that say February 13, 2015? Sure does!

This happens for every major storm during the winter as it approaches. Someone thinks they'll get all clever and trick everyone into sharing an old weather map, and it works every time.

In case you were wondering, we did get a lot of snow that weekend, but the heaviest was south of Portland. Old Orchard Beach got slammed with 15 inches but everyone north only got 2-4 inches.

This is not what we'll be getting this weekend. The latest forecast shows that Washington D.C. will get slammed with two feet of snow and it's going to miss us entirely.

So here are the proper steps to take before sharing something on Facebook.

1. Question everything.

2. Click the link

3. If it's verified as real, and you clicked to see for yourself, share!
