How we pick the songs: This is a complete list determined by how many times each song played over the air on pop radio stations across the United States. The #50 song played 115,000 times, and the #1 song was heard almost 400,000 times this year. If some songs seem out of place, keep in mind when they came out during the year. Really popular songs right now (in December) might have only been out for a few weeks, but songs that came out at the beginning of the year had more time to be played.
