On Wednesday, May 20th David Letterman will end his 33 year run in late night TV. What do some Mainer's you may know (including me) have to think about that? Danny Cashman, host of the Maine produced The Nite Show put together a segment for his show featuring well known Mainer's sharing their thoughts about Letterman.

I'll admit, I haven't watched Letterman in a long time. I'm never up that late anymore and these days you can just wait until the best stuff on the show is on YouTube the next day. He'll still always be my favorite late night talk show host.

I think Letterman was still at his best when he was at NBC hosting Late Night. He deserved to be the successor to Johnny Carson after his retirement, but NBC has quite the history of screwing people out of the coveted Tonight Show hosting gig. I thought Letterman had it bad, but then there was Conan. Let's not even go there.

By far, one of my favorite bits Letterman ever did was dropping things off a five story tower. The best was the turkey that bounced off a trampoline. Funniest thing ever.

After Carson, Letterman was the true king of late night in my book. He was groundbreaking and all of today's younger hosts from Fallon to Kimmel bring a little something of him to their shows.

Thanks for 33 years Dave.
