The prime time for harvesting blueberries in Maine ended in August. When I think of picking blueberries, I picture it as back breaking work with people bent over with rakes to gather the delicious berry. To my surprise, that's not always the case.

This video isn't from a Maine farm, but it does demonstrate the equipment used to quickly harvest a field of blueberries to go in delicious pies, in ice cream or my favorite, a topping on cheesecake.

This $200,000 picking machine may cost a lot, but according to the narrator of the video, it costs the farmer 25 cents per crate of blueberries versus paying a picker $4 a crate. It does an amazing job and is fast!
