Dry January is my favorite month to watch people post on their Instagram story about their new sober goals. All jokes aside though, I think taking a month off to abstain from alcohol to help physical and mental clarity is the ultimate self-care move. I do it every year and it always ends up being one of my most productive months of the year.

The tough part is that Portland, Maine is just such a huge drinking community and it can be hard to stay on the sobriety course.

It's always insanely helpful when a bar or restaurant goes the extra mile to create a mocktail drink menu and we're seeing it more and more often lately. Here's some of my favorite spots I've admired throughout the dry January years.

Which bars in Portland, Maine have the best mocktail menus?

Arcadia. This bar is awesome, they've got arcade games and really refreshing non-alcoholic drinks that always seem to have really fresh garnishes. One of my fav's.

Bird & Co. These guys have some insanely good tacos too. They've got alcohol-free coldbrew martini's, margaritas, I think I even got a strawberry-lime fiz one January and it was awesome.

Paper Tiger. This place is quirky but in the best way possible. They have an awesome mocktail menu that literally replicates their cocktail menu, just without the booze. Super cool.

Sagamore Hill Lounge. This place's aesthetic is wild. In a good way. It's located on the first floor of the Lafayette Arms in the West End so it's super classy with a classy non-spirit list.

Central Provisions. This cute place is nestled into the beautiful bricks of wharf street and is and awesome date night spot. They surprised me with their playful take on mocktails.

Can you find non-alcoholic beer in Maine?

Yes, actually it's almost becoming a trend. Athletic Brewing Co has to be my absolutely favorite or Hoppy Water. Both of which you'll most likely be able to find in a beer cooler around here.
