The Oscar Mayer Wienermobile is in Maine this weekend and Friday they made a stop at Q97.9 to give Meredith and Lori a ride.

If you want to see the Wienermobile in person you've got two chances left this weekend to catch it:

It will be in the Bath Blarney Days St. Patrick’s Day Parade on Saturday, March 14 at 11 in Bath and Sunday, March 15th at Walmart in Windham from noon to 5.

Here are some stats on the gigantic Weinermobile:

  • The first version was created in 1936 by Oscar Mayer's nephew, Carl G. Mayer.
  • The Wienermobile is 27 feet long and 11 feet high.
  • Recent college graduates are chosen to drive the Wienermobile across the country for a year and are called 'Hotdoggers.
  • The Wienermobile was once stopped by police in Arizona because their vanity license plate 'YUMMY' was reported stolen. Turns out Oscar Meyer forgot to inform police they got a new plate and told police it would only be stolen if not seen on a Wienermobile
  • 'Hotdoggers' don't give out hot dogs at Wienermobile stops. Instead they give out 'Wienerwhistles.'

  • There are eight Wienermobiles travelling across the county year round.
  • Most of the Wienermobiles are made from a GMC W-series chassis and have Pontiac Firebird taillights. A smaller Wienermobile is made from a MINI Cooper S Hardtop.
  • The various vanity plates used on Wienermobiles have read YUMMY, OUR DOG, BIG BUN, LIL LINK, OH I WISH, WEENR, WNR MBLE, BOLOGNA, RELSHME, OSCRMYR and IWSHIWR.
