A building on Lisbon Street in downtown Lewiston that was once the home to Lamey Wellehan shoes for nearly a century will soon be home to a new art and alehouse.

Like so many other downtown businesses in towns and cities across the state, Lamey Wellehan left their long-time location in Downtown Lewiston for a more convenient location for customers at the Auburn Mall. The original sign still is on the building.

According to the Sun Journal, The Curio Art & Alehouse has signed a five-year lease for the building and plans to open up by the end of the summer.

The new business will feature an art gallery, cafe, coffee shop and bar as well as serve as a meeting place for the downtown area.
