Holy smokes, Boston and New England sports fans.

I would venture to say we are the best fans in the country.

Granted, we New Englanders as a whole have been blessed with incredible sports teams in the past few decades.

We have the Pats, the Sox, the C's, and my favorite, the big bad Boston Bruins.

The Bruins were not the only ones who were big and bad. Turns out it is not just the players, but the Boston fanbase who is also rough and tough.

Friday night, May 6, 2022, the Boston Bruins met the Carolina Hurricanes for their third game in a best of seven series. The Canes were up two games to none as they played their first in the Garden.

The first two games found the Canes players, coaches, and fans fired up. The Boston Bruins looked bad.

When it was time for the Carolina Hurricanes to come play in our barn, we (the fans) let 'em hear what a real hockey town fanbase sounded like.

The TD Garden was roaring.

Fans were yelling, chanting, dancing, and shaking the entire arena. Perhaps a little too much.

During the second period, David Pastrnak scored a goal for the Boston Bruins and the place went bonkers.

Fans were shaking the glass so much that one of the glass panels actually dislodged and fell on one of the penalty box officials.

It knocked him out cold.

In a Today article, Pastrnak said, “We heard he’s doing all right and he’s going to be fine.”

Let's backtrack. Bruins down 0-2. Boston fans get the TD Garden buzzing. Fans get so into it that an entire glass panel falls on the penalty official. Bruins go on to win that game and the next...

Sounds to me like that official made a sacrifice.

Again, he is okay, even though he was taken off by a stretcher.

Sometimes a key player, coach, or official getting injured is all it takes to rally around, get through, and win a series.

The Bruins tweeted out a statement following the same: “Our thoughts are with the NHL off-ice official who was injured. We are sending him our best wishes.”
