Breaking: Janet Mills Wins Democratic Primary for Governor of Maine
The Maine Office of the Secretary of State ran the Ranked Choice Vote tabulations tonight in Augusta, and just after 6:30pm, Janet Mills of Farmington, the current Attorney General, was declared to be the winner of the Democratic Primary for Governor.
Matt Dunlap, the Maine Secretary of State, had office staff livestream the official tabulation process that took place tonight in Augusta.
After four rounds of Ranked Choice Voting counts, Janet Mills defeated Sanford attorney Adam Cote for the Democratic nomination.
Mills will run against Republican nominee Shawn Moody and two independents, state treasurer Terry Hayes, and businessman Alan Caron in the general election this November.
