Believe it or not, Maine has been the setting for more than a dozen scripted, fictional television shows over the years. Most of those shows have been dramas or thrillers, and none of those have ever included Maine in the title. But that looks like it's about to change as CBS has a new sitcom in development called "Welcome To Maine".

According to Deadline.com, the sitcom will center around a ninth-generation Maine family living in a tiny rural town who is faced with a new Syrian immigrant moving to town, and working alongside them. It'll follow the comedic path as they all attempt to embrace the change that is staring them all in the face.

The writer of the new show, Austin Earl, has some credits to his name including the popular show My Name Is Earl and the current hit The Millers. Welcome To Maine is only currently in development and does not have a timetable for premiere on the network.
