For the last few years, Maine has found herself on some pretty impressive national lists. From Forbes Travel Guide to Traveler’s Choice Awards, to Conde Nast Traveler, Maine has had her time to shine. And rightfully so!

This year is no different.

Conde Nast Traveler rated one of Maine’s tiny towns as one of the top places to visit during the Christmas season in their list of, “The Best U.S. Cities to Visit at Christmas”.

The list pointed out the scenic and festive parts of our country to remind us there really is no place like home for the holidays (especially during a global pandemic).

Now, before I get started, I do need to preface the fact that this holiday bash has already passed. I, unfortunately, stumbled upon the article when it was a little too late for the event, BUT, it’s still fabulous that our state made it on this national list.

You can use this article as inspiration for next year and as bragging rights if you’re from this little town. I’m disappointed I didn’t get the chance to go but this is an annual event and one I will definitely be checking out next year!

So… what Maine town made the list and why?

According to the article, the festive Maine town puts on an annual 11-day bash the first week of December as an “Annual Christmas Prelude”. The 11 days consist of creating DIY lobster buoy take-home bags, a Christmas market, piano show, trolley rides, wine and beer tastings, the lighting of the epic lobster trap tree, craft fairs, and much, much more.

But the best part?

Santa Claus showing up to the party in a freaking lobster boat!!! Is there anything that screams “Maine Christmas” more than that?!

If you were able to attend this incredible event, cheers to you I am beyond jealous.

As for the rest of us, I’ll see you there next year!
