The Denny's location in the Mailhot Plaza in Biddeford has now announced that they are permanently closed.

Denny's opened up at the former Ruby Tuesday location in Biddeford in July of 2019 and according to Saco Bay News, they announced Tuesday that they are permanently closing along with the restaurant in Ellsworth.

According to the Portland Press Herald, no reason was given for the closing of the restaurant on the post to the Ellsworth Denny's Facebook page. I was unable to find the post that the Press Herald was referring to on the Facebook page.

That's two more Denny's in Maine that have closed their doors recently. The last one to close was the Denny's that had been on Brighton Avenue in Portland since 1973. It closed permanently in July of 2018.

Who hasn't found themselves late at night at a Denny's in Maine after going to a concert or staying up late cramming for a college exam the next day? Back in high school, Denny's on Court Street was my hangout for several light night weekends, and it was a 30 minute drive from my hometown of South Paris in a time when nothing there was open past 9 PM.

If you're going to miss that late night Grand Slam, the nearest Denny's to Biddeford is on Congress Street in Portland, just off exit 5 of I-295. A quick search of the Denny's website show other restaurants in Maine in Augusta and Bangor in addition to Portland and Auburn.

It's sad to see that the Biddeford location couldn't make it work. What would you like to see go in its place?
