Disney+ Hits a Speed Bump Filming in Massachusetts Next Month
It was exciting news to know that Disney+ was coming back to film a new movie in New England. Disney recently filmed "Hocus Pocus 2" occurred in Rhode Island and the original film, "Hocus Pocus," was filmed in Salem, MA. "Hocus Pocus 2" is set to release on Disney+ on September 30th with no theatrical release.
Disney+ was set to film another Halloween-themed movie next month in Massachusetts, however, it seems that that is no longer the case. According to Inside the Magic, Disney+ has suspended the production that was supposed to occur next month.
According to Mass Live, Disney made this announcement on Friday, July 8th. The production was to take place in Norwood, MA, using the Town Common as the primary filming location. Other filming locations were set to be Norwood Theater as well as local businesses.
Norwood was not the only Massachusetts location where filming would have occurred. Two streets in Dedham were also supposed to be a part of the production. The filming was set to only take 14 days.
On Thursday, the town of Norwood was informed that the scheduled filming in August has been suspended due to casting issues, according to Mass Live. The casting issues were described as being an issue with aligning the actors with the current production schedule.
Granted Disney will not be filming in MA next month, I'm sure we all still hope that they are able to continue with this production in the future since it is only suspended. Either way, it is nice knowing that New England seems to be the spot for Disney+ to film any Halloween-themed movies.
