Ditch the Packets of Dehydrated Noodles and Try Authentic Ramen at Ramen Suzukiya
I drive by Ramen Suzukiya every day on my way home but didn't have the opportunity to step inside until last night. I'm so glad I did, because it's my new favorite noodle spot in Portland.
Listen, if you still think a packet of dehydrated noodles with a salty meat powder pouch is real Ramen, you've gotta reevaluate your life. Ramen is one of my favorite meals, but I'm talking the real deal. I want fresh veggies, a soft boiled egg, a meat or miso broth (not from a powder), and authentic noodles. Ramen Suzukiya is the real ramen I love.
Located right on Congress Street at the foot of Munjoy Hill, Ramen Suzukiya is a small but bright dining room with an open kitchen. As I enjoyed by Shoyu Ramen (the traditional order), the chef prepared the homemade noodles for tomorrow's meals. I could taste the freshness in my bowl and seeing the ingredients prepared right in front of me only made it taste more delicious.
