Hikes can be a great first date idea when you're trying to get to know somebody. It's just the two of you, chatting in the woods with no distractions. What could go wrong?

Well, if the hike is too hard off the rip, let's be honest, it could get awkward for you two pretty quickly.

So, let's look at a couple of hikes in Maine that are so easy, they could possibly be called a trail.

These places are a guaranteed nice little walk, and you will still feel like you're in the woods secluded together without the awkwardness.

Bradbury Mountain Pownal, Maine

Once you see this sign after driving the backroads, you'll know you've made it!

The best part about this little hike is that you can go the easy route, which is only a quick little mile with maybe one baby hill to get to the top. OR you can choose to reach the top by continuing the hike the long way. If you and your date decide you want to keep going, you've got the option.

Wolfe's Neck Woods Freeport, Maine

If you have pups, this is a perfect spot to let them romp around while you're talking. Maverick (my golden doodle) loves it here because he can chase the sky rats (seagulls), into the water and it tires him right out. Win, Win.

And if those don't do it for you, how about this massive collection of perfect hikes for non-hikers to try out?

LOOK: Here are the best lake towns to live in

Many of the included towns jump out at the casual observer as popular summer-rental spots--the Ozarks' Branson, Missouri, or Arizona's Lake Havasu--it might surprise you to dive deeper into some quality-of-life offerings beyond the beach and vacation homes. You'll likely pick up some knowledge from a wide range of Americana: one of the last remaining 1950s-style drive-ins in the Midwest; a Florida town that started as a Civil War veteran retirement area; an island boasting some of the country's top public schools and wealth-earners right in the middle of a lake between Seattle and Bellevue; and even a California town containing much more than Johnny Cash's prison blues.
