This Maine Hiking Trail Is Gorgeous, and Why You Shouldn’t Skip It

This trail discovery was cool because once I found it, it just kept going. It kept leading me to more what felt like secret trails and it makes you feel like you're in an alternate universe. Once I researched it more, I found out it's actually a pretty popular destination.

Mill Brook Preserve in Westbrook

Let's dive in. I typed in Mill Brook to my gps and that's exactly where I landed but then I figured out this trail is actually a small part of a way bigger operation in the woods.

"Mill Brook Preserve features a 6-mile trail system first opened in 2016 on 130 acres of forested land along Mill Brook in Westbrook. Mill Brook is notable for the largest annual migration of alewife fish from Casco Bay to Highland Lake" -PRLTORG

Those "secret" feeling trails I mentioned before weren't just secrets. Apparently they're very sought after trails by the varsity of trail hikers if you know what I mean.

Pride Preserve Westbrook, Maine

Mill Brook lead me right into a popular trail called Pride Preserve. It's still located in Westbrook and you can hit this trail straight off of Mill Brook which creates the perfect dog walk for the pups.

There's a really active creek to follow along that has insanely clear and clean water for the pup and maybe even your water bottle if you get down like that.

My doggos love these trails because they're super dog friendly and you never know what you'll find back there since it's super secluded in the woods.

The small creek is so surprisingly active that my boyfriend and his friends actually go fly fishing in there and catch trout. This is an awesome summer spot so go check it out and let the pups run free and happy!
