Summer! Is! Heeeeere! Know how I know? Because so is First Friday Art Walk on Congres Street in Portland. Technically, First Friday Art Walks go year round, but now that it's almost June and the sun is shining more regularly, artisits and vendors take to the outdoors and so should you!

Filling the sidewalk with stands, tables, displays and lots of slow-walking people, First Friday is a self-guided tour of art galleries, art studios, museums, and alternative art venues along Congress Street on the first Friday of every month from 5-8pm.

Many of the exhibits are featured for multiple months but for full listings of each new installment, visit CreativePortland.com

The best part is that you don't have to live on the peninsula to enjoy First Friday Art Walk for free. The METRO (Greater Portland Transit District) is free every First Friday after 4pm! Leave the car at home, hop on the Husky Line connecting Gorham and Westbrook to University of Southern Maine and Downtown Portland, or the Breez that connects Portland to Brunswick, Freeport, and Yarmouth.

There are very few things you can still get completely free in this day and age, but every month you can get your fill with First Friday! Enjoy the sunshine, local artists, music, and exhibits of the Greater Portland Area all for free.99, baby. Happy summer!
