On September 6th while riding in a Shriner's charity motorcycle ride, Chief Robert Gregoire, a 26-year veteran of the Augusta Police Department, with his wife Cathy, and Sargent Chris Shaw were injured when slick road conditions caused the chief to lose control of his motorcycle.

Sargent Shaw layed down his bike to avoid crashing into the Chief and his wife. The chief has a serious spinal cord injury and is still at a rehabilitation center. Although Chief Gregoire is recovering, he is confined to the use of a wheelchair and due at this point...they don't know if he will be able to walk again.

The Gregoire's house has two floors and cannot be made wheel chair accessible. An accessible house has been loaned to them until they can find or build a house that will accommodate a wheelchair, but they need to refit a bathroom and the house with special equipment.

Chief Gregoire will be coming home soon and friends, family and the community would like to help he and his family with the costs of installing special equipment. There will be a fundraiser on November 24th from 4-6 pm at the Red Barn in Augusta.  One hundred percent of the money raised will go toward installing accessible equipment for Chief Gregoire.
