Guess What Year the Litchfield Service Plaza Had Cheap Gas and TCBY?
$1.24 for gas and the place for fro-yo was TCBY - when was THAT?
That was 31 years ago at the service station plaza in Litchfield, Maine. Thanks to the Maine Turnpike Authority, we know that gas was $1.24 for unleaded, and you know that was the expensive gas because it was on the Turnpike. And good ol' TCBY - The Country's Best Yogurt.
I just put gas in my car from BJ's which has traditionally lower prices and I paid $3.55 a gallon. And I'm actually grateful it's under 4 dollars. Remember when it was over 5 for a while?
The world being as out of sorts as it is, makes looking back at the 90s a sweet memory. What else was happening in 1992? According to Info Please...
- Bill Clinton was elected president
- Toronto beat the Braves in the World Series
- CDs overtook cassette tapes for the first time
- Johnny Carson signed off after 20 years on late-night television
- The Crying Game and Glengarry Glen Ross were at the movies
Sometimes I wonder what people in 30 years will fondly remember about the summer of 2023. Ahhh, gas was only $3.55 and remember when we got that 2 bedroom half bath in Portland for only half a million dollars? The good ol' days!
You know people are longing for the good ol' days when the logo for Burger King in 1992 is the logo they now have in 2023 after changing it from the modernized version.
Hey, maybe the gas prices of 1992 will come back too! I know, I know...but I couldn't resist.
