A principal at a Portland High School is in the running to win a major grant for his school, and you can help!

Derek Pierce, the principal of Casco Bay High School, is the Maine finalist and one of 6 across New England, for the Larry O'Toole Award. The award is an annual leadership award given out by the Nellie Mae Education Foundation to an individual or organization that has exhibited great leadership through innovation or courage in moving student-centered approaches to learning forward.

But the decision is up to you, only one school in New England can win the $100,000 and the decision will be made by popular vote. The school with the most votes as of Sept. 30 at noon will get the money. The voting page can be found here. Right now, Maine is in first place, but your votes will help put it over the top!

Check out Pierce and a student from Casco Bay High School on a recent appearance on Channel 6's "207" discussing the voting and the grant.
