Should Maine Schools Start Later To Give Kids More Time To Sleep?
It's an interesting idea, and it's been debated before.
Now, the state of Maine is considering it again: Should schools, particularly high schools, start later in the day to give students more time to sleep?
The Bangor Daily News posted a story today that talks about the discussion happening right now in the Kennebunk school district.
Some school districts like Biddeford and Saco have already backed up their start times to give kids a little more sleep. Studies have routinely showed that more time asleep during developmental years can help students with academic performance, concentration in school, and other important things like attendance and test scores.
