Here’s the View from the Balcony Seats at the Brand New Aura Music Venue in Portland, Maine
Portland's music scene just got a brand new crown jewel of a venue. Aura (formerly Asylum Night Club on Center Street) opens it's doors on Thursday, April 27 for their inaugural show after a massive renovation. We were invited inside the venue for a sneak peek to see just how stellar the place turned out. As seasoned live music fans and regulars at area music venues, we know a good spot when we see it. Aura will be an incredible place to see a show this season.
The best thing about Aura, beyond the brand new EVERYTHING, is the expertly engineered seating arrangement. If you have ever attended a concert at Asylum in the past, you know how challenging it was to see what was happening on stage unless you were front row or 7 feet tall. There was no balcony to speak of. Now, there isn't a bad seat in the house.
Aura boasts a general admission/pit section right in front of the stage that isn't overwhelming. If there's a seated show, chairs can be pulled out to fill the pit area. A raised bar behind the GA section will have bar tables for VIP/luxury seating.
The real highlight of the venue seating is the balcony. Balcony seating at some venues is tough -- unless your legs are dangling over the ledge there's no clear sight line to the stage. That won't be an issue with Aura's tiered balcony seating. There isn't a bad seat in the house.
We can't wait to see a show at Aura this season. See you there!
