Houlton, Maine, is not letting this eclipse just happen, they are celebrating big time.

Aroostook County is right in the path of the total solar eclipse. All of the United States will see some of the eclipse, but there's a path in Maine that's lucky. Because nothing beats a total eclipse of the sun (not heart).

Great song. Uh, anyway...

On April 8, the moon will completely cover the sun in parts of Maine for 3 1/2 minutes in a total solar eclipse. Totality will be visible in northern Maine, and they are doing it up! There will be four days of family fun events planned in Houlton, Presque Isle, and Caribou. In Houlton, there will even be a Howl At The Moon Dueling Piano Show!  Aroostook County would like you to visit leading up to that three-minute event. Spend some time, get some food, buy a house, move the family, ya know...get into Aroostook County.

The epicenter for the excitement is in Maine's Aroostook County as the path of totality is directly over the tiny town of Littleton near Houlton, Maine. Visit Aroostook says that Star Parks will have the best views. Plus, they have good parking, facilities, entertainment, and awesome views of the sky!

According to News Center Maine, NASA shows that the length of time of totality is longest in Texas, with Ingram, Texas, getting nearly four-and-a-half minutes of a complete solar eclipse. Here in Maine, Houlton is the winner, with three minutes and 20 seconds. That's not a lot of time, but it sure is an awful lot of excitement. Maine needs an eclipse to show us that sometimes nature doesn't have to be destructive, but just plain cool.
