Iconic Red’s Dairy Freeze Reopens in South Portland With Changes
I have wonderful memories of walking from Southern Maine Community College to Red's Dairy Freeze a decade ago on one of those breakthrough spring days with my friends who became family. Now that I live in the area I've been dying to go back. Thanks to, well, you know, Red's has been closed. That is, until now!
Earlier today they announced on their Facebook page that they're back, baby! But it's certainly not business as usual with the safety of their employees, customers, and community in mind. They outlined a plethora of details which you can read below but here are some of the highlights:
At this time they will only be offering curbside pick-up and that will be from noon to 9 pm and they will only be accepting Credit or Debit for payment. Parking spots at the establishment will be numbered, once you arrive call them (207-799-7506 or 727-442-9184) to let them know which spot you're in. At that point they'll process your payment and bring the order out to your car.
They will not be able to give out traditional ice cream in a cone. All items will be in a container and placed in a bag. A cone can be ordered for you to assemble yourself.

I think the changes seem fair all things considered. I'm just happy their doors are open once again.
Plan ahead! Take a peek at the menu here. Personally, I'm thinking an M&M Nor'Easter.
